On Wednesday, March 25, DSA North Texas, along with our partners from ACLU of Texas, BYP100, Faith in Texas, and Texas Organizing Project, sent letters to Dallas County judges and Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown demanding the release of people being held in Dallas County jail.

According to County Judge Clay Jenkins on Wednesday, 5 people being held at the jail had tested positive. As of this morning, two days since we sent the demand letters that people be released, two more people being held in the jail have tested positive.

COVID-19 is clearly spreading in our county jail, and continuing to hold people in the jail is violence.

We call urgently call on our Dallas County Court judges and Sheriff to protect people being held in Dallas County jail and release them today. Read the letter we sent to Judge Tammy Kemp here. Read the letter we sent to Sheriff Marian Brown here. And let them know you demand the immediate release of people being held at Dallas County jail here.
